Dubai Dreaming

Dubai is one of the places I am dying to visit!
Desert moons, magic carpets, fashion. Home to the biggest shopping centre in the world, sandy beaches, culture, food, camels, safaris.... the list is endless.
So while I was dreaming about a Dubai escape, I thought why not create a Dubai inspired flat lay for you all. Ahh one day, one day!

July Book Reviews

I used to read so much when I was a kid and as I've gotten older I found I slacked off a lot. But this year I'm back in the groove and rekindled my love for reading so I thought I'd share with you a few of my latest reads. I read these three books back to back and found I couldn't put any of them down. Sometimes there's nothing better than sitting down on a comfy couch, with a blanket and cup of tea to read a book. Everyone get on it!

#GirlBoss by Sophia Amoruso
#GirlBoss is the story of Sophia Amoruso's life from petty thief to founder and CEO of Nasty Gal- one of the most successful fashion retailers around. This is an empowering, brutally honest read packed with useful tips on how to achieve your dreams.

Beautiful Ever After by Katie Piper
I saw the documentary on Katie Piper a few years ago and have continued to follow her story. Her extraordinary story of strength and courage are captured in this book as she tries to rebuild her life after the shocking acid attack that scarred her body and face. This is the sequel to her memoir that delves into how Katie has coped in the years after the attack and moving out of her parents home. An absolute must read in my opinion. Her story is truly remarkable. I would recommend reading her memoir Beautiful first.

Still Alice by Lisa Genova
Still Alice by Lisa Genova was a New York Time's best selling novel....and I know why. I read this entire book on the way home from Melbourne. It was so captivating and heartbreaking at the same time. Alice Howland is a cognitive psychology professor at Harvard with a loving husband and beautiful children. One day she goes for her usual daily run but can't remember how to get home. Alice becomes increasingly disorientated and forgetful and is tragically diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of 50. This book gives you an understanding of those affected by early-onset Alzheimer's and keeps you long inspired after you've put it down.

Summer Time Essentials

Summer is almost here. We had a taste of the warmer weather on the weekend, when it was a steamy 36 degrees. So I thought it was fitting to start and get a few summer essentials together. Plus I'm off to Melbourne for New Year's and am determined to be prepared for walking around in the sun. Here's what I have so far! I'll keep you posted on any new purchases.

Cotton On Grey Fedora Felt Hat
A great hat is always needed in the summer to protect your face from the harmful rays and also add a touch of style. What I like about this felt one is that it can be worn all year round. It's also a saviour on those bad hair days!

Witchery La Bikini Top
I saw this bikini top in Witchery last week and fell in love with it instantly. It's super flattering and the detailed design steers away from your regular kini. I didn't think the colour would suit me but I was surprised! My plan is to buy some plain black bottoms to pair with it. I'm loving mixing and matching this season.

Novo Reef Sandals with Metallic Strap
Ahh a good pair of flats. I saw these the other week and loved the metallic strap. It actually looks like hardware but in actual fact it's super bendy and flexible. These are great for summer, they go with practically everything and add a bit of glamour and comfort. They also come in gold which I have my eyes on! I like flats that are a bit more dressy for those occasions I don't want to wear heels- which is practically all the time.

T By Bettina Liano Remember Forever Maxi
I got this pretty maxi dress from my parents for my birthday and am so excited to wear it. The photo doesn't do it enough justice- it's extremely flattering, elegant and classy. The bottom panel is sheer and it has a slit up the side giving it that movement when you walk. Everyone needs a great maxi dress for the summer- they can literally work for any occasion. Lunch with the girls? Check. Cocktails on a Saturday night? Check. Off to the beach? Check.

What are you summer essentials?

Style in the city

Perth is coming a long way!
We were lucky enough for Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field to bring some of the shows most adored outfits to Ennex 100.

I am a MASSIVE fan of the show and can recall every outfit on display. Personally I am a Carrie fan. I love her clothes and passion for anything fabulous. As she said 'I like to have my money right where I can see it... In my wardrobe!"
The movies, especially the second one, received some criticism but I honestly loved them. The fashion is so special and there are some scenes which are truly unforgettable.

This is the Versace haute couture dress Carrie wore in season 6 when she's in Paris with Aleksandr Petrovsky!

One of my other favourites is this vintage Halston dress. When Carrie is walking along the Abu Dabhi beach in this the colour is just amazing and it looks like she's floating.

Now I adore all the characters on S&TC but Miranda holds a special place in my heart. I love her honesty which at times can be quite brutal and her sense of humour. This Julien Macdonald dress she wears at Stanford and Anthony's wedding is one of my favourite looks on her. The detailing is exquisite and so beautiful in real life.

If you get the chance make sure you take a look at the exhibition. It truly is special.
