Cataholic

So I know I already wrote a post on my cats but I wanted to share with you the items I bought on Asos that reflect my love of felines!
I know this is a bit over the top and of course would never wear everything together but I can’t help but love the inclusion of animals when dressing, so the cat is my choice of animal!
First off I got these cute little socks for $5. Now, these are strictly for the house and bedtime-remember this when you’re judging my fashion choices- but I thought it was a cute addition to walk around the house in.

The next item I bought was a pair of black gloves with a small embroidered kitten face etched in white. What I like about these is that it makes a pair of relatively normal, plain black pair of gloves individual and quirky. Personally, I don’t think this is that strange to wear in the winter and am looking forward to the colder days.

My last cat inspired item is this retro cat head scarf. I’m not a massive fan of headbands at all and plan to wear this as a scarf or possibly even a hand bag accessory. Looking at it, you don’t automatically see ‘cat’ just more of a print which is what I like- it’s not ridiculously obvious.

Now I’m not one to normally share this sort of weird fashion behaviour and I promise I’m normally very sane with my fashion choices. I promise to share a relatively normal one next time.
Bye for now!
xx

Style Icons

I think it’s safe to say Olivia Palermo has the ultimate sense of style. I have never seen her put a foot wrong in the fashion stakes and officially see her as one of my style icons.
Always classically chic, fashion forward with a touch of glam, Palermo’s style has evolved since her reality TV days. Now, working as a successful model and fashion blogger, I continue to see her mix a number of high end items with high street.

I’m not entirely sure why, but a recent photo of Palermo at LFW attending the Anya Hindmarch show caught me by surprise. Not only was Palermo wearing a beautiful blue double breasted coat from Reiss, a popular and accessible UK brand, she also teamed her outfit with burgundy jeans and flats.
Another style icon of mine is Australian model Miranda Kerr. Whenever she steps out on the street, she is wearing simple clothes but always looks so fashionable. Regularly seen in Nobody jeans (my fave!) flats and ridiculously awesome coats/jackets Kerr is the epitome of glam.
I love how her outfits look so put together without trying too hard!
Here are some of my favourite outfits from Palermo and Kerr.

A new fashion chapter

I’m very excited to share with you my first full page fashion story for the newspaper I work at in Western Australia!
I have just finished university with a journalism and public relations degree, but haven’t officially graduated…that’s next week actually!
I’ve worked at the newspaper for about three years now, just casually, while I was at uni and was so excited to be offered a full time position within the marketing department.
I couldn’t be happier with where I’m working or who I’m working with. Having been here a while, my manager knew I had a serious interest in fashion so she asked one of our editors if I could write a fashion story.
Last year I was lucky enough to be able to write an article on the business behind the fashion glamour. Essentially this means the background information from concept to creation; how designersstart their fashion labels and get their clothes into stores.
I was then asked to write another story (yay!) on bridal fashionand was amazed when I scored a full page which was totally unexpected woooooo hooooooo
Despite how exciting and fulfilling this was I have decided journalism isn’t the career I want to pursue but hope it is still a big part of my life. I’m really enjoying working in marketing and just dabbling in articles and news stories when I get the chance.
It has made me realise how important it is to have a few strings to your bow. Don’t limit yourself to just one thing because who knows if you will really enjoy it once you get out into the real world. I studied journalism and pr and ended up in marketing! Go figure.
What’s your advice for starting a career?

Nails of the week

So when I feel broke and also the need to spend money I generally don't have I opt for purchasing a new nail polish!
Perfectly manicured hands intantly make me feel better.
Going through my vast collection I realised I didn't have a grey and wanted something neutral and wearable but also fashion forward. I settled for this Revlon one number 617 called 'You're Worth it'
I like the size of the bottle as I've never gotten through an entire bottle of nail polish and being smaller was also cheaper! At only $6 I was very happy!
I applied two coats for this effect plus a top coat for extra long lasting shine.

What's you're go to nail polish colour?

Forever a cat lady

Now while I love posting about fashion and beauty there is another love in my life. My two gorgeous cats.
It's slightly shameful to admit but I'm a huge cat lady. I've always been an animal lover and when our dog passed away about 18 months ago thought it would be nice to have a different species around the place. The thought of 'replacing' him was not an option.

So after many tears and difficult moments we finally decided to head down to the Cat Haven in Shenton Park, Perth and see who we could take home. Just as we were leaving we spotted a litter of kittens coming in. Immediately we saw these two and brought them home.
Say hello to Mossy and Gizzy- brothers who were abandoned on the side of the road :(  but now are the little loves of my life. They adore each other and their mum :)
