Heel Hell

I have come to the realisation that I am not a heels kinda gal. Don’t get me wrong, they are beautiful and make any outfit look a million times better but for me they are nothing but trouble.

Last weekend, on one of my weekly shopping trips in Perth, I came across a great pair of black strappy heels at a great price. Trying them on in the store, they looked fab and felt comfortable so I was stoked. I did the height test (i.e. stood next to my mum to make sure I was too much of a giant) and everything seemed ok so naturally, I bought them.

Monday came around and I was excited to wear my new purchase. Didn’t start off well- the zip snapped just as I was trying to do them up. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THEN but I persevered.

I walked into work and felt ok but by 10am my feet were aching and I was only sitting! By midday I couldn’t take it anymore and raced home to change into my trusty flats. It also didn’t help that I’m 5’9” and most of the girls AND guys are lucky to be 5’. The height test clearly failed me here.

Looking around the stores, there are some great flats to wear that are still dressy, stylish and fashion forward. Being as tall as I am, I’m hoping I can get away with it. So I’ve done the leg work (or should I say foot work?) and snapped up some great shoes that don’t cripple me. What do you think?

Tartan fever

It's the classic print hailing from the Highlands with which fashion has an enduring love affair - and this season Tartan is very much back on the style agenda and mine for that matter. So, if you're struggling to style out the trend, check (sorry) this lot out for some plaid-related inspiration…

While these Celine and Marc Jacobs collections are wayyyy out of the ordinary persons budget and mine for that matter (tear!) there are many affordable alternatives I feel easily match up.

I bought myself, well actually my mum did (hi mum!) this great coat from Portmans (not me in the photo BTW) on my last trip to Melbourne. What I like is that the grid print is subtle enough that I should be able to a) wear it a lot and b) take it into next year and it not be dated. It was also affordable and an amazing slimline fit.

Today I also bought this great checked skirt from good old Target which will be great to wear to work. I don't have a photo yet but will be sure to show you once I do!

What are your thoughts on the trend?

Weekend at Crown

What a weekend!

My best friend of over 10 years just turned 21 and to celebrate I took her to the beautiful Crown Perth.
This five star resort is truly magical.

We were so excited when we arrived. When we got to the front desk to check in, we were greeted by a smiling receptionist who had this cheeky grin on his face. After telling him my name he informed us we  had been upgraded to the loft suite! Not really knowing what this meant we just smiled and nodded.
He also went on about a few other things but after hearing 'upgrade' the rest went in one ear and out the other.

Opening up the door to our room, we both stood motionless for a moment. Finally I said, 'We can't be in the right room.' But oh yes we were. The room or 'loft suite' was the size of an apartment. You should have seen the look on my friends face, I've never seen her so excited before.

In the room was a complementary bottle of Moet and a fruit platter so we said goodbye to the $10 bottle of wine we brought with us!

Realising we missed out on half of what the receptionist said we raced down and realised we also received a pass to the 9 lounge which offered free drinks, canapes and breakfast. Score!

The weekend was amazing, we went down to the pool which you could literally spend hours just sitting around.

After sneaking in a few cheeky beverages and canapes at 9 lounge we went to dinner at Junction Grill then back to our apartment to get ready for a night out!

By about 10:30 we headed off to Eve nightclub which was a hilarious time in itself. Way to many stories to tell here!

All in all it was an amazing time, one we will never forget. Happy birthday Sophie :)

Holiday time!

I was so excited to finally have some annual leave up my sleeve so over Easter my mum and I set off to Melbourne.

My favourite type of holiday is a girls shopping trip- there's nothing better than shopping and eating naughty food all day!

We stayed at Docklands apartments which is right on the water and five minutes to the city. We had a gorgeous but compact apartment.

I was really excited to go to H&M as he first store just opened up in Australia three weeks ago. I was still surprised when we got there to see a line with hundreds of people in it! This photo is literally one quarter of the line!

When we finally got in there there were soooo many people it was impossible to get into a fitting room but even so I still scored three blazers that are perfect for work.

This is just some of the stuff I bought in two days! I went crazy and over budget but it was totally worth it.

It was good knowing the clothes I bought wouldn't be available to the people at home. Little old Perth doesn't have the likes of Zara, Topshop and H&M! We're a little bit behind so I was more than happy to spend my money here!

In the end I bought more than 20 items (woops!) and had an amazing time with my mum- HI MUM! :)

Style in the city

Perth is coming a long way!
We were lucky enough for Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field to bring some of the shows most adored outfits to Ennex 100.

I am a MASSIVE fan of the show and can recall every outfit on display. Personally I am a Carrie fan. I love her clothes and passion for anything fabulous. As she said 'I like to have my money right where I can see it... In my wardrobe!"
The movies, especially the second one, received some criticism but I honestly loved them. The fashion is so special and there are some scenes which are truly unforgettable.

This is the Versace haute couture dress Carrie wore in season 6 when she's in Paris with Aleksandr Petrovsky!

One of my other favourites is this vintage Halston dress. When Carrie is walking along the Abu Dabhi beach in this the colour is just amazing and it looks like she's floating.

Now I adore all the characters on S&TC but Miranda holds a special place in my heart. I love her honesty which at times can be quite brutal and her sense of humour. This Julien Macdonald dress she wears at Stanford and Anthony's wedding is one of my favourite looks on her. The detailing is exquisite and so beautiful in real life.

If you get the chance make sure you take a look at the exhibition. It truly is special.

Nails of the day

Another one to add to the collection!

I've been really fond of darker tones lately and today I found this great teal nail polish by Revlon.

Called 'Midnight' it took two coats to create this effect and one top coat.

The weathers starting to get a bit cooler now and I think this is a great shade for the winter months. It's modern but at the same time I feel it's edgy and fashion forward.

Aztec inspired shopping haul

I've been really interested in getting a few Aztec/gypsy inspired pieces to add to my wardrobe and it seems this weekend I found them!

Looking on Asos I found this ipad case which to me looks more like a clutch. I wanted something to spice up my ipad that I can put in my classic black handbag and when I take it out people see I have a slightly crazy side to me and it also adds a bit of spice!!!

I also found this cute skirt I will be able to wear all year round. At the moment it's still quite warm so I'll wear this with flats and shirt. But when it starts to get cooler I plan on teaming it with boots, tights and a jumper. I got this little number from Dotti which I have just noticed have some really great items relatively cheap. This was only $50. The photo doesn't really do it justice, it has a speckle of pink and turquoise throughout it you can't quite see.

Lastly I found these pointy toed flats from Myer. They are Miss Shop brand and came down to $29 woooo! Because these are such a statement on their own I would pair see with black jeans and a plain top.

Until next week!
