Calvin Klein. The essence of chic, classic elegance with a
touch of sass. That pretty much sums up
the 2014 spring collection.
Celebrating his tenth year at Calvin Klein, head designer
Francisco Costa kept true to the house’s roots, opting to continue the
minimalism signature that has gained the label the title of one of the most
covetable.
Costa called it ‘elevated deconstruction’ and it started off
very similar to most CK collections, opting for white ensembles. What struck a
chord was the introduction of colour. There was a mixture of emerald green,
mint and flashes of pink and red, a rarity for CK.
Not all of Costa’s ideas were successful- some materials
appeared too stiff and some designs made you wonder who would want to wear
their seam allowances on the outside of their clothes but it was a gutsy show
that Costa should certainly celebrate and remember.
